I understand that life isn't always straightforward, and distressing events - whether recent or from your past - can impact on your quality of life and leave you feeling overwhelmed and out of control. Therapy can enhance your understanding of yourself, and improve your communication as well as your relationship with yourself and others. Together we can work to make meaningful changes to help you manage current difficulties and enhance the quality of your life.
About me and my practice
My area of expertise is loss, and helping clients deal with it in all its forms, which includes bereavement, job loss, relationship breakdowns, loss of sense of self (which includes depression, anxiety, chronic illness, disability or medical / healthcare diagnosis) and all of the many other life changes that may happen outside of your control. I am a specialist loss counsellor and supervisor working with a social enterprise contracted to Salford NHS Trust and have worked for a leading bereavement charity for many years as both a trainer and supervisor. I approach all counselling relationships in a trauma-informed way, and am able to support you with a wide range of issues, whether it be anxiety, depression, low self esteem and self worth, guilt, shame, anger or any other presenting psychological challenges you might be facing.
I can offer you a welcoming, confidential space to explore your current situation and the impact it's having on you, and together we can work to facilitate any desired changes and develop techniques to manage any ongoing issues. I am an accredited integrative counsellor, which means rather than working with you through the lens of one psychotherapeutic approach and I am able to utilise a wide range of tools, modalities and techniques that can be tailored to meet your individual, unique circumstances.
Experience
I am an empathic counsellor and coach with extensive experience providing both long term and time-limited therapy in the NHS, charity sector, and private practice.
I also provide supervision to other practitioners.
Having managed a Wellbeing service for a number of years working with mental health challenges, drug & alcohol, addiction, compulsive behaviours, sex offenders, eating disorders, low self esteem, relationship issues. This experience enables me to support you whether your challenge be anxiety, depression, relationship issues, shame, anger, loss of sense of self, bereavement and so forth. I work in a collaborative supportive way to help you gain insights and choice to live a more informed and fulfilled life.
